Chatillon® ML1997
Self-Tightening Fixture for Wire and Cord

The ML1997 is a single fixture used for tensile tests on insulated wire, cord, stranded cable and other similar products. The fixture consists of two blocks. The smaller block is spring loaded. The test sample is held between the smaller block and wrapped around the larger block. The opposite end of the sample is held by some other gripping mechanism.

Capacity
450 lbf (2 kN)

Applications
Used for tensile testing of insulated wire, cable and cord. The specimen is pulled to break and the relationship is recorded between force and extension. The test also determines other mechanical properties including:

  • Elongation
  • Maximum Load
  • Percentage Elongation
  • Stress
  • Extension
  • Tensile Strength
  • Percentage Yield Point Extension
  • Yield Stress

Packaging
Single fixture.

We Can Help!
Selecting the correct grip can be difficult. In fact, improper grips or fixtures are the second leading reason (loadcells are the main reason) why tests fail and results aren't what you expected.

Send us some samples. We'll evaluate and recommend the proper grip or fixture for your application. Just contact your nearest Technical Support Center.
