Packaging Science and Testing Puncture resistance is important in end-use performance of stretch wrap film used in consumer and industrial product applications. Puncture resistance is the measure of the energy-absorbing ability of the stretch wrap film in resisting protrusion. A biaxial stress is representative of the type of stress encountered by stretch wrap materials in common applications. A Chatillon system may be used to determine the resistance of a stretch wrap film to the penetration of a probe at a standard low rate test velocity. The system will report the maximum force, force at break, penetration distance and energy (work) to break. Industry standards for determining the puncture resistance of stretch wrap film are: Need assistance with your application? It's FREE.
