Packaging Science and Testing Elastic recovery involves the percentage of a given deformation after 180 seconds when subjected to specified extension limits. The permanent deformation is the increase in length, expressed as a percentage of the original length, by which an elastic material fails to return to its original length after subjected to specified extension limits. Stress retention is the percentage of stress retained after a 60 second or 24 hour period. A Chatillon system may be used to determine the permanent deformation based on a specified time period; elastic recovery based on a specified time; and stress retention in percent and grams-force (or lbs-force). Industry standards for determining the elasticity and permanent deformation are: Need assistance with your application? It's FREE.
