Packaging Science and Testing It is common for containers to be stacked on top of one another while stored for a long period of time. Determining the compressive load characteristics of the container is useful in determining the amount of load that can be safely applied to a container over time. A Chatillon system may be used to determine the resistance of a container to a vertically applied constant load for either a specified period of time or until failure (break or rupture). The system produces time-to-failure data including deflection versus time. Industry standards for determining the constant load characteristics for containers are: Need assistance with your application? It's FREE.
