Wrist Testing and Assessment - Supination
Wrist injuries are common. These injuries may be due in part to an imbalance between the strength of the flexor and extensor muscles of the hand and wrist. One method to reduce the likelihood of wrist injuries may be strengthening the extensor muscles.
Chatillon® dynamometers are used by professionally certified Physicians, Therapists and Clinicians to accurately measure and document musculoskeletal strength and provide objective testing results as part of a preventative or rehabilitative wrist testing and assessment program. The subject sits with their arm bent at the elbow and the hand positioned as though the subject was going to "shake hands". The arm is isolated so that only the wrist and forearm can rotate. The dynamometer is placed at the back of the hand and resistance is applied as the subject rotates the wrist outward. The dynamometer measures the resistance and provides an objective reading of the force applied.
